QUESTION: Councillor T. Costello

"To ask the Manager for an update on 10 & 11 Old Bawn Road - can confirmation be given if tiles to rear of houses have been repaired and rubbish removed from back yard?"

REPLY:

The tiles to the rear of the houses have not been repaired nor has the rubbish been removed from the back yard. This was confirmed by inspection on the 20th of September 2023

The Council served a notice on the registered owner of the properties pursuant to Section 11 of the Derelict Sites Act requiring that the following works are carried out:

• Secure the entire site, including the rear boundaries adjoining St. Maelruan’s Courtyard, to prevent unauthorised access/ illegal dumping
• Repair or cover the damaged roof tiles to prevent further deterioration of the properties
• Clear all overgrown vegetation and debris from front and back gardens
• Remove graffiti from hoarding on both houses
• Maintain the site in a clean and tidy condition

The registered owner has failed to comply with the terms of the Notice.

Further, the Council served Notice, pursuant to Section 8(2) of the Act, of the Council's intention to enter particulars of the properties on the statutory Register of Derelict Sites.

It is now proposed to proceed to enter particulars of site on the register.
