QUESTION NO. 21

QUESTION: Councillor C. O'Connor

"To ask the CEO to detail actions being taken regarding issues raised at the most recent meeting of Fettercairn Estate Management and Group; will he appreciate the concern of the local community in respect of crime, anti-social behavior and other matters of concern and will he make a statement?"

REPLY:

At the most recent meeting of the Fettercairn Estate Management and Group on the 17th of May 2023, the main issues raised included complaints about joyriding, drug dealing, illegal occupiers, and the proposed public realm works in Kilmartin.  The Council's Anti-social Officers are actively working to address the anti-social issues raised that are of concern to the local community.

Anti-social Officers are investigating and conducting house calls in relation to complaints of joyriding.  They are liaising with relevant stakeholders and investigating reports of illegal occupation.  Anti-social Officers are working closely both with An Garda Siochana and with the Drugs Squad to address the allegation of drug dealing.  Estate Management Clinics continue to be held in the Fettercairn Community Centre every Wednesday from 2.15pm to 3pm.  These clinics continue to be well attended by residents.  An additional clinic has been established in the Killinarden Community Centre on the last Thursday of every month.

The Anti-Social Unit have worked with the Council's Public Realm section to schedule works which are due to commence on the 19th of June 2023.  Community representatives have been notified of this start date and the duration of the works.
