QUESTION No. 24
QUESTION: Councillor M. Murphy
"To ask the Manager
a) When exactly were the new 60 Km/hr speed limit signs fitted on the Naas Road between the Red Cow Roundabout and the Kylemore Road Junction.
b) What was the old speed limit on that stretch of road.
c) What is the speed limit on most of the Naas Road?
REPLY:
(a) The 60km/h speed limit signs from Red Cow Roundabout to the City Bounds were fitted and became operational on 1st February 2006. The 60 km/h limit at this location forms part of the Speed Limit Amendment Bye-laws approved by the Council in late 2005.
(b) Prior to 1st February 2006, a temporary speed limit of 50 km/h (formerly 30 mph) was in force at this location, having been introduced initially on safety grounds during the LUAS Line A construction.
(c) The remaining speed limits in place on the Naas Road/N7 are:
Rathcoole to Kildare County Bounds - 60 km/h. [This is a temporary speed limit in force for duration of N7 Improvement (widening to 6 lanes), and will revert to 100 km/h on completion.]
