COMHAIRLE CHONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF TALLAGHT AREA COMMITTEE (2)
Monday 26th June 2006
QUESTION No. 18
QUESTION: Councillor K. Warren
“To ask the Manager to outline the proposals currently being considered by the Dublin Transportation Office in conjunction with South Dublin County Council concerning the extension of Quality Bus Corridors throughout the administrative area of South Dublin County Council, specifically if he could state if plans are in place to establish a QBC on the Embankment Road in Tallaght, and on the Greenhills Road in Tallaght, and if he could outline the timeframe involved for such work, and if he will make a statement on the matter?”
REPLY:
The priority for provision of new QBCs in the greater Dublin Area is based on the QBN Office work programme as agreed from time to time between the QBNO, the DTO and the various agencies. This work programme is currently being reviewed by a multi-agency committee under the chairmanship of the DTO with a view to re-prioritising schemes in line with Transport 21 requirments. While preliminary designs have been prepared for the Greenhills Road QBC, the DTO has advised its opinion that the scheme will require preparation of an EIS. QBC measures for the Embankment Road are being examined by the QBNO having regard to the road scheme being prepared under the Council's Non-National Roads Programme.
