MOTION NO.3

MOTION: Councillor K. Mahon

"This Area Committee asks that management report on what steps are being taken by SDCC to increase its land holdings in the Tallaght area, what land purchased have been made and to bring to the Area Committee for discussion its strategy for the development of local authority housing beyond current projects?"

REPORT:

In the short to medium term the Council has no immediate plans to increase its land holding in the Tallaght area as it deemed that the Council has sufficient land capacity in the area.  Council led and supported social housing developments currently under construction/due to be constructed in the Tallaght area include Brady's Field Old Bawn, Fernwood/Maplewood, Whitestown Way and St Aongus' Green which will see delivery of 147 age friendly homes in the Tallaght Area. 

Future developments on Council owned lands include sites at Rossfield and Killinarden, which will progressed through planning for general needs social housing over the summer months as well as the Council's joint venture at Killinarden which will see delivery of approximately 412 social and affordable homes in the Tallaght area.   

Over the period of the Housing Delivery Action plan the Council will review its landholding in the Tallaght area for potential future infill housing developments with members being updated as potential schemes are identified.
