COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF TALLAGHT AREA COMMITTEE
Monday, April 24, 2023
QUESTION NO.
QUESTION: Councillor T. Costello
"To ask the Manager can instruction be sent to the owner to reinstate the wall at the old gate entrance to Katherine Tynan House?"
REPLY:
The issue regarding the condition of the entrance to White Hall on Ballymount Road came to the attention of the Council some time ago as it was in a dangerous condition. A notice was subsequently served on the landowner to carry out the necessary works to deal with the matter and make the area safe. Following this the architect working on behalf of the landowner was in contact with the Council's Architectural Conservation Officer to agree a specification and methodology for carrying out the rebuilding work. Work commenced and the area was made safe, however the rebuilding of the wall remains substantially unfinished. The Architectural Conservation Officer will make contact with the landowner's architect once again to establish why the work has stopped and will seek to have the matter brought to a conclusion. It should be noted that at the time of the inital discussion there appeared to be full agreement between the Council and the landowner with regard to the urgency of having this work carried out.
