QUESTION: Councillor G. O'Connell

To ask the Chief Executive for an update on the HGV Policy Review and to indicate , with all due respects to the role and expertise of the relevant SPC, if there is any intention to involve Area Committees in this important work?

REPLY:

The Mobility and Management of HGV's on the South Dublin County Road Network Policy document was adopted by the Council in June 2013.  This Policy document was developed through a sub-committee of the Transport SPC and the Economic Development SPC in consultation with logistic operators and on assessment of road types within the County. 

As part of our LUPT Works Programme for 2023 we will commencement a review of this policy document.   

It is proposed to work as appropriate with the relevant SPCs with a view to developing a new Mobility and Management of HGV's policy.

It is the role of the SPC to assist the Council in the review of policy and accordingly it is anticipated that the SPC's will be key to this process.

Subsequent to this process the draft document will come before the full Council for consideration.
