Noting the motion previously approved at the full council meeting of December 2020 , can plans immediately commence to introduce a series of no car days in Lucan village

REPORT:

It is noted that World Car Free Day is scheduled for 22nd September 2023.

LUPT will organise a "no car day/s" in Lucan Village as soon as it is practical to do so.

This will involve several strands in order to make it a successful event.

1. Possible Road closures which will involve a statutory process.

2. The organisation of an attractor event or events.

3. The organisation of Stewardship and the Health and Safety management of this / these events. 

LUPT will liaise with other Council Departments with the view to preparing a proposal for these events shortly and will consult with local representatives in the development of these plans for a  "no car day/s".

Accordingly, having regard to the above, it is not possible as of yet to provide a timescale for when such an event may take place.
