QUESTION: Councillor Baby Pereppadan

"To ask the chief executive for an update since last year's development plans were made for Carrigmore Park regarding design consultants for the Park"

REPLY:

A sum of €250,000 has been allocated in the 2023-2025 capital budgets for the upgrade of Carrigmore Park.

In late 2021 SDCC carried out an open tender procedure for consultants to complete the design, planning and construction mangement stages for the Carrigmore Park proposals. However; this tender was not successful and had no returns. During 2022 several negotiated tender procedures were commenced but all failed to result in the appointment of a consultant for these works. Three consultants declined the invitation to tender, one invitation to tender did achieve a return but it was not within the budgeted amount and was therefore unsuccessful. Since then some addtitional pre-tender market engagement has been carried out and SDCC is preparing for another approach to market. The above experience is not unusual for the current project climate and would chime with other construction projects that have had similar difficulties with procurement in recent times; however we will continue to strive for a successful outcome.
