QUESTION NO.6
QUESTION: Councillor C. O'Connor
'To ask the CEO to refer to the Council's announced decision not to proceed with the Wetlands project at Tree Park Road Kilnamanagh and to confirm what is now being considered for those lands; will he detail plans for consultation in the matter and will he make a statement?'
REPLY:
A provision of €20,000 has been allocated in the 2023 Public Realm Improvement Works Programme to upgrade the western corner of open space by removing existing debris and topsoiling and seeding with a native Irish clover mix. Once the landscaping works are completed and grass has started to grow this corner will then be included in the short flowering meadow mowing programme. The existing open space which is utilised as a kick around area/ pitch will be retained to promote active recreation. It had previously been proposed to provide a walking path around this open space to encourage passive surveillance and supervision in the area and this proposed path will be considered for inclusion in the 2024 improvement works programme.
