QUESTION NO.26
QUESTION: Councillor Derren Ó Brádaigh
To ask the manager for an update on the anticipated recommendation now by the Arts section, for the Adamstown mural and in follow up to official question raised in this regard in December 2020.
REPLY:
The Arts Office applied for and received funding of €15,000 from Creative Ireland towards a placemaking project in Adamstown, in collaboration with Creative Connections, an arts organisation based in the county. The initiative would result in an installation and local capacity building, through a process of community engagement.
A number of sites were considered for an installation including the bridge in the previous question. The costs of a mural on this bridge are beyond the range of the funding available.
Creative Connections have started working towards a project whereby smaller areas are identified within the community. A community survey is currently being circulated. Creative workshops for the community will follow the survey. These are designed to bring community residents together and through creative activities and conversations, discuss what Adamstown means to them and will inform what creative installation will take place.. The workshops will begin in April.
