MOTION: Councillor M. Johansson

That the Chief Executive look at possible options for traffic calming in Wheatfield Drive such as ramps, signs and road markings. Cars are speeding through and making turns at high speeds causing a lot of concerns for parents with young children.

REPORT:

An inspection was carried out at this location.

Wheatfield Drive is a short cul de sac road of 120m length and currently benefits from passive traffic calming in the form of on-street parking which forces a natural give and take traffic calming operation. Additional traffic calming is not recommended.

The Council does not provide line marking within housing estates except in very exceptional circumstances. 

It is Council policy to install composite 30kph Children at Play signs at the entrances to estates only, and there are signs in place at both entrances from Liscarne Close; Oatfield Ave and Wheatfield Ave. Therefore further additional signage is not recommended.
