MOTION NO. 11
MOTION: Councillor Derren Ó Brádaigh
That this committe commends the ongoing and growing volunteerism by Adamstown Spring / Litter Cleaning Group and in acknowledging such, agrees to the placement of large planter/pots on the central divide on Adamstown Avenue between the stretch at Station Road and Castlegate Way junctions, ahead of the Summer.
REPORT:
Planters are generally only provided by the Public Realm Section in village settings. The location in question was examined and it was noted that the surface of the central divide at Adamstown Avenue is constructed of brick setts. The benefit of this type of treatment ensures that there is no continuous landscape maintenance required. This is something that would have been factored in at the design stage and it helps to reduce the risk that staff would be exposed to if they had to work in proximity to live traffic.
Placing planters on the central divide would expose staff to an unnecessary risk. There is no proposal to install planters at this location.
