Social, Community and Equality SPC Work Programme 2023

One of the statutory functions of the Council's  Corporate Policy Group is to make proposals for the allocation of business as between strategic policy committees and for the general co-ordination of such business.  Accordingly, the Chair of the Social, Community and Equality Strategic Policy Committee, together with the Director of Housing, Community & Social Development, propsoed the following 2023 areas to be included in the work programme for this SPC that was subsequently agreed by the Corporate Policy Group:

• Local Economic and Community Plan
• Local Sports Plan
• Community & Leisure Facilities - capital programme, strategy & governance
• Community & Sports Grants
• Community Development including social inclusion and health & wellbeing
• Age Friendly programme
• Traveller Equality Action Plan

While the programme above covers a comprehensive range of Community related policy areas and initiatives, the list is intended to be both dynamic and indicative rather than exhaustive meaning that as policy requirements emerge and/or other issues arise they can be added to the work programme accordingly and Committee members can provide any items for consideration for inclusion to the Chair of the Committee and/or the Director of Housing, Social and Community Development.
