Fire Safety Matters

REPLY:

The Dublin Fire Brigade’s Chief Fire Officer attended the Council's Organisation, Procedure and Finance Committee on 19^th January 2023 and gave a presentation on the proposed Dublin Regional Fire and Emergency Operations Plan under Section 26 of the Fire Services Act, 1981.  This plan covers organisation, fire stations, emergency ambulance service, fire appliances, equipment, major emergency management and various related corporate aspects of the fire service and requires the approval of the elected members in each of the four Dublin Local Authorities.  The CFO was in attendance for a significant period to answer a range of questions and queries from Council members in relation to the plan and various fire service operational matters including issues raised previously at this committee and a copy of the presentation is attached. 

Having regard for the time spent at a meeting of a committee of this Council so recently, it was not considered appropriate to request that he attend the Housing SPC a matter of weeks later. It is intended that an invitation will issue for him to attend the next meeting of this committee in May 2023 instead.

The Dublin Inter-County Sub-Committee on Fire and Emergency Management, which was established in April 2022 to consider strategic and policy matters in relation to Dublin regional fire and emergency management, is due to next meet later this month and an update from that will be provided to the next meeting of the Housing SPC.
