MOTION NO.7
MOTION: Councillor F. Timmons
That this Area Committee requests that when work is being carried out on or along the Camac that Friends of the Camac are consulted, and a link person is appointed to liaise with Friends of the Camac so an agreed work plan can be carried out by Friends of the Camac.
REPORT:
SDCC welcome liaison with the Friends of the Camac. As the varied items relating to the Camac fall under the remit of different teams within the Environment, Water and Climate Change Department, the appropriate point of contact in SDCC for matters relating to the Camac, is to submit an email to wateranddrainage@sdublincoco.ie, which is monitored by staff on a daily basis. This will ensure that queries will be directed to the appropriate Staff Member/Team (Flooding, Water Quality/Pollution, Maintenace, Parks/Litter control etc). SDCC wish to support the Friends of the Camac and requests for permission for agreed work plans to be undertaken on the Camac within SDCC lands, may also be discussed via this route.
Planned maintenance by Drainage Operations comprises typically of removal of blockages and channel clearance, and this work is prioritized based on resources available each year – with an element of this work undertaken at short notice on a needs basis. For the proposed Flood Alleviation Scheme, there will be informal consultation and a formal statutory public consultation process and we would greatly welcome input from the Friends of the Camac.
