QUESTION NO.14

QUESTION: Councillor S. O'Hara

To ask the Chief Executive, given that a Teen Space has been decided for Rathcoole Park, what other plans are there for Rathcoole Park?

REPLY:

Rathcoole Park is a popular local park of approx 16 hectares located with good access from adjacent estates and the town. It has a number of amenities within it including shared routes, grass playing pitches, seating areas, natural play areas, which were extended due to their popularity, exercise equipment and extensive water features and planted areas and related information boards. The park was designed with a rolling landscape that matches nearby topography and creates a pleasant landscape. The park is an intensively used one and additional amenities are planned including; a dogs off-leash area and a teenspace. It is Public Realm's understanding that a plan is to be developed for the recently zoned lands adjacent to the park; so plans for new facilities in the park will require careful consideration and liaison; to ensure co-ordination and ascertain if any complementary action is possible.
