QUESTION NO.2

QUESTION: Councillor Eoin Ó Broin

To ask the Chief Executive to outline the steps required for a member of the public to have a game of tennis outdoors in Clondalkin Leisure Centre?

REPLY:

The Sports Officer, Ciaran Farrelly is responsible for sports capital development and advises that Tennis is no longer available to play at Clondalkin Leisure Centre. The multi-use court which was previously used for Tennis is in need of a significant upgrade.  Also, from recent research on demand for Tennis across the county it was found that demand for tennis in this area was low. Significant funding will be required to upgrade the court to the required standard. Should interested members wish to discuss demand levels for any sports facilities and infrastructure they can contact our sports team directly. Also, we are currently conducting a wide ranging analysis of sport across the county and urge all Councillors to share this survey. Should results indicate a renewed interest in various sports and related infrastructure it can come through in responses to this survey.
