QUESTION NO. 2
QUESTION: Councillor C. King
To ask the CEO while wholeheartedly welcoming the recent clearing of gardens, painting and other works being carried out on the four Derelict Homes in St Maelruain's Park adjacent to Mountain Park and also the two Bungalows on the Old Bawn Rd - to report on any timelines that can be provided as to when these houses could be ready to be used as Family homes again and what if any firm plans are in place for them in this regard.
REPLY:
The properties at both locations remain in private ownership.
On 27th of July 2022, South Dublin County Council published notice of its intention to acquire the four properties at St. Maelruan's Park compulsorily under the Derelict Sites Act, 1990. An objection to the proposed compulsory acquisition was received within the timeframe allowed. Therefore, under the Derelict Sites Act, the Council cannot proceed to acquire the properties without the consent of An Bord Pleanála. The Council's application for consent to acquire the properties was submitted to An Bord Pleanála on the 27th of September 2022. The case is due to be decided by An Bord Pleanála by the 1st of March 2023. 314737 | An Bord Pleanála (pleanala.ie)

The timeframe for compliance with the terms of the notice expires on the 24th of November 2022. A representative of the owner has made contact with the Council and given an undertaking that the required works will be carried out. These works were due to commence on the 3rd of November. A review will be carried out after the expiry date of the S11 Notice.
