That this Area Committee agrees that SDCC request TII to consider the removal of 1 or possibly 2 of the screens (used as sound deflectors) from the junction of the N7 and Boot Road in order to increase visibility at this junction.

REPORT:

 SDCC have specifically asked TII to look at these barriers and they have given us the response attached, which says that they believe there is no traffic risk created by the barriers.  However, the TII have confirmed to SDCC that they are investigating a number of solutions at the Boot Road junction as this junction is in their maintenance and charge. These improvement works may include speed control, safety barriers and additional line marking and written warning marking.  My belief is that when these changes are implemented, that the N7 / Boot road junction will be much safer.
