MOTION NO. 6

MOTION: Councillor E. Murphy

To ask the Chief Executive to provide a report on the possible solutions for the area known as 'The Alcoves' between Whitechurch and Glenmore Estates. The piece of land is a walkway which is subject to significant anti-social behaviour on a constant basis.

REPORT:

Tackling the issue of anti-social behaviour is a complex and difficult job and requires involvement of a number of groups. When these groups work together, particularly when there is community involvement, many of these issues can be reduced or eliminated. It is proposed that the Estate Management Team will proactively work with other Council departments, local elected members, Gardaí, schools and residents to seek to identify solutions to manage ASB at this location and to report back to this committee with proposals in relation to eliminating the areas that are hidden from view and which encourage Anti- Social Behaviour.
