MOTION NO. 3

MOTION: Councillor P. Kearns

That this committee calls on the manager to install a railing around the Glendown children's play space at the junction of Glendown road and Templeville Road. This is an issue I raised when the proposal for play space was first brought to council and it continues to be a matter of grave concern to the parents of young children that visit the play area.

REPORT:

The toddlers playspace at the Glendown open space was fenced off when the playspace was installed, no fence was erected around the rest of this open space which includes the play area for older children as it was not considered necessary at the time.  The proposal to erect a railing around the play space will be examined, costed and considered for inclusion in the 2023 public realm improvement works programme.  The draft programme of works for 2023 will be presented to the area committees in January next.
