QUESTION: Councillor D. Richardson

"Can the manager consider parking bays along the whitestown way road to allow for parking for events at Tallaght stadium as cars are being parked on grass verges along the road when matches are on?"

REPLY:

The control of parking at Tallaght matches is managed jointly by the Tallaght Stadium managers and the Gardai.  There is adequate parking relatively close to the stadium to cater for all the demand.

Separately, the NTA may be upgrading the Whitestown way with better cycle facilities and bus set down facilities for the new Bus connects services in the near future.  Therefore, it may not be possible to install additional parking at this location.

Under, our policy guidelines SDCC should be supporting Public transport and active travel before supports for car travel. Therefore, we need to make the available space available for sustainable measures first.

I will speak to the Gardai and the Tallaght Stadium managers to tighten up on the illegal parking.
