MOTION: Councillor F. Timmons

That this Area Committee supports Clondalkin Tidy Towns call for a Name stone naming and remembering all those that died in world war 1 from Clondalkin at the site of the proposed World War 1 Memorial. This has been ongoing since 2014. Clondalkin Tidy Towns have the funding to undertake this work they just need permission from SDCC to go ahead. Could SDCC meet with the Clondalkin Tidy Towns to plan this memorial going forward?

REPORT:

A War Memorial name stone proposal was submitted to the Infrastructure Naming Committee for consideration.  Following examination, the recommendation of the Public Realm Section is that Clondalkin Tidy Towns submit a revised proposal regarding the proposed wording/engravings on the Memorial Stone which would be reflective of a more universal inclusive remembrance of those who lost their lives in World War 1, a key objective of the Decade of Centenaries Programme (2012-2023).

The Public Realm Section is available to meet Clondalkin tidy Towns to progress the memorial.
