QUESTION NO.15

QUESTION: Councillor F. Timmons

To ask the Chief Executive for a report into the LAP process for Saggart and when this will start? To also ask will the process include an audit of existing services?

REPLY:

The recently adopted County Development Plan provided for a local area plan for Saggart;

QDP14 Objective 5:

To prepare a Local Area Plan for Saggart.

The process for LAPs is set out under the Planning and Development Acts and the section 28 Guidelines ‘Local Area Plans Guidelines for Planning Authorities’.  All LAP processes start with a background data gathering stage which typically lasts for a year depending on the complexity involved. This would generally include an audit of the existing services. The formal statutory plan starting with the publication of the draft plan lasts for a minimum of approximately 18 weeks up to 35 weeks depending on whether there are amendments to the draft.

The LAP for Saggart is not on the current work programme but once the Clondalkin LAP has been completed the work programme, having regard to the objectives in the recently adopted Development Plan, will be reviewed.
