The publication of a draft plan has been targeted for early Q4 of 2023. Early background research has commenced as part of the plan making process, including an initial health audit of the town. As indicated in the Local Area Plans Guidelines published by the Department, the pre-draft stage of a LAP, before a draft plan is published, is approximately one year. This allows time for meaningful engagement with the public and other stakeholders to explore the critical issues to be addressed in the plan. An initial update on the early stages of the plan preparation is on the agenda for the September SPC meeting.
