QUESTION: Councillor Eoin Ó Broin

To ask the Chief Executive for an update on the possibility of the installation of a seat at Bus Stop #2160 located on the Convent Road outside Tesco in Clondalkin as discussed under Motion 11 of the December 2021 Clondalkin ACM?

REPLY:

Age Friendly Ireland Seating Guide specifies benches should be 500mm deep with a back and arm rests included. Due to the width of the footpath at this location a bench is not recommended as it will reduce the available footpath width to below 2m. A clear footpath width of below 2m is not recommended as it may hinder accessiblity for other footpath users.

To install this seat, third party land is required and the wall rebuilt at a new location. That is the wall needs set back to accommodate this change. 

I will ask the NTA again about this issue and see are they in a position to give funding for this work.
