QUESTION NO.
QUESTION: Councillor T. Costello
"To ask the Manager is there going to be an official opening cermony for the Jim Lawlor Bridge in Dodder Valley Park?"
REPLY:
The Council was delighted to arrange for a photo opportunity on Friday, 10th June to officially mark the naming of Dodder (Red) Bridge in memory of James (Jim) Lawlor at which The Mayor, Councillors, Members of the Lawlor family, Council officials and the local community including Tallaght Community Council were in attendance.
This naming initiative was agreed by resolution of the Council some time ago following consideration of a submission made by Cllr Mick Duff through the Naming of Infrastructure Committee, in deep appreciation of Jim's lifetime of voluntary community giving for his beloved Tallaght.
It was envisaged that a naming and unveiling event would have taken place some time ago. However, due to a very long delay due in particular to the restrictions and implications of COVID 19, it was not possible to hold such an event until now, at which The Mayor, Cllr Duff and Martin Lawlor spoke so highly of the late Jim Lawlor.
