QUESTION: Councillor Yvonne Collins

To ask the Chief Executive for an update re the proposed new sponsorship scheme in relation to advertising in public spaces (including roundabouts)

REPLY:

The current roundabout sponsorship scheme is going through an appraisal and review at the present time.  The outcome of the appraisal will inform the next steps to be taken in relation to this matter.  This scheme included 24 roundabout locations however only 6 of these received offers of sponsorship.  The sponsorhip offers received in some cases did not meet the costs associated with the annual maintenance of the roundabout in question, any new scheme to be implemented would have to address this issue.  The Council has received expressions of interest in roundabout sponsorship in recent times which would suggest that a new scheme could be run successfully and in a manner that would address the low participation in the current scheme.  The elected members will be kept informed in relation to this matter and whatever decision is taken with regard to the future of this type of scheme.
