QUESTION: Councillor T. Costello

"To ask the Manager how many people are on the housing list in the Tallaght area with a requirement for 4 bed accommodation and is there a plan to build 4 bed accommodation?"

REPLY:

There are currently 6,429 housing applicants on the South Dublin Housing List.  Of these 39 applications have 4 bed requirements and are in the Tallaght area.

The Council’s current housing delivery action plan out to 2026 includes a total of 11 four bedroomed properties for delivery through the Part V programme. There are a further 11 four bedroomed properties proposed within the Killinarden Park masterplan development which is currently at pre-planning stage. The Council continue to engage with Developers and Approved Housing Bodies to secure large properties in the areas of need throughout the county.  There is also an opportunity to acquire four bedroomed properties through the rightsizing policy, both through transfer of existing Council tenants and the private sale of properties to the Council in exchange for social housing (Community List - Financial Contribution Scheme).
