QUESTION NO.  9

QUESTION: Councillor F. Timmons

"To ask the Chief Executive to consider and issue a report into if he would consider a pedestrian crossing be installed on Boherboy Road at the Estate Agent in Slade Castle shopping to facilitate safer crossing for residents and also in preparation for new community facility opening and to ask will he liaise with Saggart Village Residents' Association to achieve this?"

REPLY:

There is a controlled pedestrian crossing at the junction of Slade Road and Main Street. Currently, there is an uncontrolled crossing at the proposed location. There is 80m between these 2 crossing points. Too many controlled crossing points in close proximity can frustrate drivers, lead to poor driver behaviour and creates a hazard for pedestrians. Based on this, a controlled crossing is not recommended at the proposed location.
