MOTION: Councillor William Joseph Carey

"That this committee agrees that traffic stop signs and road markings be installed at the junction of Westbourne Rise and Drive (this is the access route to the Deansrath Community College and proper road markings are needed).

REPORT:

This matter was discussed in detail at the March Traffic Management Meeting.   At that meeting the Traffic Department did not agree to putting any line marking at the junction.  This location is a standard T junction within a housing estate.  A vehicle driving along Westbourne Rise approaching Westbourne Drive must yield to oncoming traffic.  This is standard practice. 

The normal procedure is to raise these issues at a TMM meeting only where statutory approval is needed where additional lining is warranted. 

Following a site inspection, the traffic sections decision remains that no additional stop line or signage is required at this location.
