QUESTION: Councillor D. Richardson

"Can the manager repot on what financial support the council is offering to community centers with the cost of electricity and gas on the increase. Can the manger report if emergency funds can be made available to assist With the current increase?"

REPLY:

The recent Community Activities Fund focused on supporting groups, particularly in disadvantaged areas, to apply for operational funding and all community centres were particularly encouraged to apply for support to assist with energy costs and overheads generally.

Detailed guidelines and support information were shared with community centres across the County and applications received by the closing date at the end of February are currently being assesed with successful applicants to be notified next month.  In addition, the Council's community development grant supports wiill open in the coming weeks to provide further supports to local community centres.
