SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF TALLAGHT AREA COMMITTEE

QUESTION NO. 17
QUESTION: Councillor D. Richardson
Can the manager report on the current numbers of homeless families living in hotels in the tallaght area
REPLY:
Emergency accommodation is provided to households becoming homeless while they look to either source a tenancy through HAP/social housing or progress to a family hub. Family hubs provides greater supports and facilities but households that cannot, for various reasons, access any of these options are offered self-accommodate arrangements.
There are currently 45 households from the Council's housing list in self-accommodate arrangements which is a significant reduction in comparative numbers over recent years.
There is currently 1 household in Self Accommadation in the Tallaght area but this is subject to constant change as it is the responsibility of the housing applicant to secure their own accommodation.
