QUESTION: Councillor C. O'Connor

To ask the CEO to refer to the development of "Age Friendly Housing" in Springfield Estate and confirm what plans are now in place to attract tenants for the accommodation and in reporting will he also confirm when the units will be available and will he make a statement? Charlie O'Connor

REPLY:

Allocations to all Council properties are made according to the Allocations Policy.  The new developments in Springfield  at Maplewood and Fernwood will be offered to applications over 55 on the housing list, transfer applicants who have expressed a desire to downsize or approved for a tranfer on other grounds.  Applicants on the medical list and whose need will be met by these properties will also be offered properties.  A small number will also be available to private homeowners wishing to downsize through the new Financial Contribution Scheme.  This will be advertised shortly on the Council webiste and through social media platforms. 

These properties are expected to be ready in the second quarter of 2022.
