REPLY:
Clondalkin is known as a location with a rich heritage of lace making, including needle laces, Irish Crochet, and Irish Crochet Lace. In 2021, the County Heritage Officer facilitated the recording of some aspects of this important cultural heritage with the production of the award winning film on the involvement of local Clondalkin women in the making of crochet for the renowned Irish fashion designer, Sybil Connolly,- ‘Clondalkin’s Tangible Threads, Clondalkin in the world of haute couture’.
The Heritage Officer would welcome any report from the Clondalkin Crochet Group which would add to the knowledge and understanding of the role of Clondalkin in the development of these nationally important crafts.
