To ask the manager to examine the narrow footpaths on the L5216 to make them safer for pedestrians

REPORT:

The L5216 (Lucan Newlands Road) has sections of narrow footpaths that would not meet with the current standards. Unfortunately the road width is narrow and does not provide any opportunity to increase the width.

The only potential solution is to remove a traffic lane which would have a severe impact on vehicle traffic movement on the L55216 and likely result in cars rat running through the neighbouring Esker Lawns estate.

Our Active Travel team are currently looking at this area as part of the Canal Loop project and this should provide improved pedestrian options in the area.
