QUESTION: Councillor William Joseph Carey

"To ask the Chief Executive if he can indicate how many properties Centralised Mechanical Extract Ventilation is currently being trialled and when we can expect a report on their use?"

REPLY:

There are currently two Council owned properties that have been retrofitted with de-centralised mechanical extract ventilation systems.  Works typically involve the installation of a combination of low trickle continuous running extract fans and wall mounted positive input ventilation units.

The impact of these units is being monitored with tenants and further suitable trial properties are currently being identified for immediate addition to this pilot.  When a sufficient number of properties and evidence base is available to us we will update the Housing SPC on its effectiveness and scenarios proposed for its future use in conjunction with our ongoing planned maintenance and energy efficiency retrofit works.
