QUESTION NO.12
QUESTION: Councillor M. Duff
Given the amount of groundworks and preparatiions carried out for the Stepping Stones Forests Projects across our schools and given the huge amount of students, teachers, parents and other volunteers involved with the Project, would the Manager indicate if South Dublin County Council will step in to help John Litter Mug Kibred see out the final phase of planting the trees and offer to administer the finances for the Project, due to the breakdown in relations between Tallaght Community Council and John, which effectively blocks him from being involved the the final phase.
REPLY:
South Dublin County Council and the Litter mugs undertook a Mini Woodlands trial project to aid biodiversity in Sean Walsh Park in 2020. This was a two-step project, the first step is to add cardboard and mulch to the ground, this was completed in December 2020. Planting of the mini woodland took place late November 2021.
Council staff have provided techical support and information to the group as well as facilitating the trial project in Sean Walsh Park. However the Council do not get involved in the administration of groups and/or individuals work in the community.
