QUESTION: Councillor C. O'Connor

To ask the CEO if plans are being made to return the Civic Theatre to normal activities when practical in respect of the Covid restrictions and will he make a statement?

REPLY:

The Civic is currently operating in line with government guidance for the events sector.

Currently, no public events can be held beyond 8.00pm and at a maximum audience capacity is limited to 50% (only at 80% does an event approach commercial viability for all parties, especially bookers).

There are significant and exciting plans in place to undertake a wide range of engagement activities for all ages as well as to deliver a comprehensive, diverse, and appealing programme this spring and beyond. These plans are dependent on the lifting of restrictions currently in place.
