QUESTION: Councillor K. Mahon

'Can the Council please update on the item below? Residents are keen to see progress as the issues highlighted worsen. Residents Glenview Park Tallaght. Following on from previous representations on Mrmbersnet and calls from local residents can the Council please update on necessary action regarding the overgrowth at the rear of houses at the green at the western end of Glenview Park Tallaght. Improved approach to grass cutting is needed as well as the cutting back of ivy etc that is coming into residents gardens Please see attached photos. Can management confirm that this work will be undertaken and give a timeframe please? Dear Councillor Mahon, I refer to representation received on 01/08/2021 in relation to overgrowth at rere of Glenview Park. The Foreman of Works has reported that this location is on a list for maintenance however no timeframe can be given as to when the works can be carried out at present. I hope this is of some assistance?'

REPLY:

The reply given to this item on the agenda of the September meeting of the area committee stated that grass cutting in Glenview Park had been inspected in recent days and that the issue referred to in the motion had been largely resolved.  The grass to the rear of house numbers 272 to 288 Glenview Park had been cut close to the rear boundary wall and around the trees.  The cutting of the grass adjacent to the boundary with the N81 is being done neatly and as close to the boundary as is possible with the machinery in use.  There were a number of specific locations requiring further attention and these were referred to the operations supervisor at the time.  The reply also stated that the issue of ivy growing on walls would be examined and action taken as required, the ivy was to be cut at the base and allowed to die off over time.

This matter is being re-examined at the present time.  Any outstanding issues or actions required will be addressed early in the new year.
