SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL

QUESTION NO.
QUESTION: Councillor C. O'Connor
'To ask the CEO if he has any plans for the further development of Dodder Valley Park, Old Bawn; will he particularly detail proposals for the Tennis Courts and will he make a statement?'
REPLY:
The Council's Public Realm Section submitted an application in 2021 for sports capital funding to carry out improvement works to the tennis courts and basketball court at Dodder Valley Park, no decision has been received on this application to date however. An allocation for this facility under the public realm improvement works programme is under consideration at the present time and this is likely to be included in the draft programme of works which will be presented to the Area Committee in January.
Substantial works have been carried out in this area in 2021. The sports pavilion was opened earlier in the year. Improvement works schemes have been completed including the construction of the new footpath from Aylesbury past the pavilion, the surfacing of the river bank footpath and the planting of pollinator friendly bulbs in a number of locations.
Larger scale works are also planned and underway including the Dodder Greenway and associated works, and a tender has been carried out for the provision of 3 playspaces and a playtrail; one of which playspaces will be at Old Bawn.
