MOTION NO. 19
MOTION: Councillor Alan Hayes
That the Chief Executive write to Irish Water to request they undertake an underground survey of waste water pipes in the vicinity of houses 78 - 102 The Coppice, Woodfarm Acres Estate, Palmerstown. The purpose of the survey should be to ascertain the condition of the pipes and any misconnections present with a view to reducing the foul sewage and flooding issues experienced by residents.
REPORT:
SDCC Water Services raised this with Irish Water Operations in October and they reported with a review of foul sewer drainage issues in Woodfarm Acres which was reported to the October Area Committe Meeting. There was a record of 1 no. blockage reported in 2021 and 5 in total for Woodfarm Acres in 2020 with 2 of these in the vicinity referred. Following that meeting we communicated further with Irish Water as requested. Records within Irish Water do not appear to indicate a significant issue in this area, although it is possible that there are issues that have not been reported. If there are any issues with foul sewers in this area it is requested by Irish Water that they be raised with Irish Water with as much detail as possible so they can be investigated.
