QUESTION NO.

QUESTION: Councillor B. Lawlor

To ask the Council to erect a safety barrier at the rear entrance of Firhouse Community College at Killakee Gardens side of the road

REPLY:

The Traffic Section have surveyed this location and have identified safety issues at this pedestrian crossing.  There are gradient and trip hazards on the Killakee Gardens side of the pedestrian crossing.  The Traffic Section intend to address these issues early in the New Year.  It is not believed that a new barrier would increase safety at this location. It is not proposed to install a barrier. The Traffic Section believe that a relevelling of the approaching footpaths and a gentler ramp to road level will improve the safety of the pedestrian crossing on the Killakee Gardens side of the crossing.
