MEETING OF LUCAN / PALMERSTOWN / NORTH CLONDALKIN AREA COMMITTEE

QUESTION NO. 10

QUESTION: Councillor L. O'Toole

This committee takes the opportunity to commend all those in our community that have carried out weekly/regular clean ups, keeping our environment tidy and litter free. Many young children get involved with these clean-ups and perhaps SDCC could put together a social media post highlighting these clean ups. The post could include stats on materials given out to date. Could Chief Executive provide a report on groups signed up to these clean ups and materials supplied within the last year in the Lucan /Palmerstown/NClondalkin area

REPLY:

In 2021 the South Dublin County Council Social Credits Scheme received approximately 143 applications across all three elements - the clean ups, minor landscaping programme and paint enhancements.

In the Lucan/Palmerstown/North Clondalkin area approximately 29 applications were received from residents associations, tidy Towns groups, schools and private residents for the Clean-Up element of the Social Credits Scheme.

Each Clean Up Application received a supply of bags, litter pickers, gloves and the Environmental Awareness Office arranged for the waste to be collected by the relevant depot. Approximately 80 rolls of bags and 50 litter pickers were supplied to groups in the Lucan/Palmerstown/North Clondalkin area.

In December 2021 the Environmental Awareness Office will publish a social media post highlighting the good work being done through the Social Credits Scheme.
