QUESTION NO.

QUESTION: Councillor M. Duff

''Following on from a meeting with 5th year LCA students from Kingswood Community College, who have assisted local residents in a Clean Up in the area, they noted that there are no litter bins between the local shops and the College. They are requesting that some bins be installed in this area. Can the Manager please make a report to this Committee about any proposed actions on this issue?''

REPLY:

This location has been inspected and it is considered that the provision of litter bins on Sylvan Avenue and in the vicinity of the Kingswood shops is sufficient to service the area in question.  There are a number of litter bins in place on Sylvan Avenue beside the shops and car park including one at the bus stop in front of the church.  There is also a number of litter bins at bus stops on Ballymount Road just beside the school entrance.  There is one bus stop on Ballymount Road near it's junction with Sylvan Avenue which does not have a litter bin, and it is proposed to provide a bin here which will service both bus users as well as students walking from the shops back towards the community college.
