MOTION NO. 6

MOTION: Councillor Derren Ó Brádaigh

To ask the manager following; Given the ongoing and serious nature of anti social behaviour incidents, drug dealing, criminal damage and dumping at and about Foxdene Avenue, that CCTV is now installed on Foxdene Avenue to assist in the detection and prosecution of criminality and to help allay the very real fears of many residents living under duress in Balgaddy.

REPORT:

The Council is aware of the anti-social behaviour issues at Foxdene Avenue and is working closely with An Garda Síochána and local residents to reduce anti-social behaviour in the area.

Community Action Network were engaged with funding by the Council to commence the Building Community Resilience Project in Balgaddy in conjunction with An Garda Síochána and the North Clondalkin Community Development Project which included a Community Crime Impact Assessment.

The group meets monthly, and have to date:

The Council has already two CCTV cameras located in Balgaddy which feed directly into Ronanstown Garda Station in accordance with a Section 38 of the Garda Síochána Act 2005. The installation of an additional camera at Foxdene Estate will require a Data Protection Impact Assessment in consultation with local residents and approval from the Garda Commissioner.
