COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF LUCAN / PALMERSTOWN / NORTH CLONDALKIN AREA COMMITTEE

MOTION NO. 16
MOTION: Councillor P. Gogarty
That the Chief Executive reports on the results of the survey carried out in relation to the wall breach on Lucan Road opposite the Maxol; to outline what further actions are planned in the coming weeks given that this issue has now been dragging on for several years; to outline whether an agreement could be made to deal with this issue through a creative approach to public access to the lands on the far side of the wall, subject to discussions with the landowner; and if a statement can be made on the matter.
REPORT:
The ground investigation surveys are not yet complete and the information will be used in the design of the repair. To date there is no agreement on the financing of the repair despite meetings with Italian Embassy officials. SDCC agreed to pay for the ground investigationas an indication of goodwill in order to move matters along. However when the contractor first went to access Embassy lands, he was not allowed in and the Embassy wanted SDCC to agree to pay for all costs before entry would be allowed. Following discussions entry was allowed but it delayed the site investigations by a number of months.
