MOTION NO. 6
MOTION: Councillor D. O'Donovan
That the Manager commits to planting a wildflower meadow on the grass verge at the top of the Scholarstown Road - see map attached. The area is difficult to keep cut and tidy and it would really enhance the area to cultivate some colour along this busy road.
REPORT:
The grass verge at the top of the Scholarstown Road has been inspected. The area contains native wild plants and is part of a continuous green corridor which is vital for biodiversity in the area, it is therefore perferable that this area would remain as it is at the present time. The Scholarstown Road at this location is very narrow, it would not be possible to plant and maintain the area in question without closing one side of the road while doing so. This area is not considered to be suitable for the planting of a wildflower meadow.
