MOTION NO. 12

MOTION: Councillor Carly Bailey

To ask the manager for an update on any permanent cycling schemes that relate to the D12 Bike Bus route, including details of routes, plans, timelines and funding streams.

REPORT:

The D12 Bike Bus Route (aka Limekiln - Whitehall Road West Route) forms part of 'Cycle South Dublin' NOW schemes. A budget has been secured from the National Transport Authority (NTA) and a Design Consultant has been appointed. The Counsultant has been asked to prepare an 'Options Report' which will recommend a way to proceed. To date, South Dublin County Council has had discussions with the 'D12 Bike Bus Group' to establish a route that accommodates their needs and the needs of the local area. Once the route is finalised, preliminary drawings will be produced by the Consultant and presented to the Councillors for comment in advance of public consultation.
